Who We Are

About Us

At TASC, we’ve been helping people in Queensland for over 40 years. We started in 1982 as the Toowoomba Community Legal Service. Our lawyers realized that legal problems are often connected to bigger social and economic issues. So, we expanded our services to include advocacy, and in 2004, we became The Advocacy and Support Centre, or TASC.

Although our name has changed over the years, our mission remains the same: to support our community. We want people who come to TASC to trust us, value our advice, and feel welcome and safe.

Today, we serve over 3,000 people every year. Our help covers a large area, including over 400,000 square kilometres in South West Queensland and an additional 6,000 square kilometres in the Ipswich region. We also work in other places like North and South Burnett and Gympie.

TASC’s solicitors, social workers, and advocates are here to assist you with common legal problems and issues related to your human rights, such as abuse and discrimination. We want to help you understand what you can do about these problems and support you in taking action.

The best part is that our services are completely free for eligible people living in the regions we serve. We offer legal help in areas like family law, domestic and family violence, civil and consumer law, and minor criminal matters. We also provide free advocacy and social justice services. This includes support with discrimination, human rights concerns like abuse and neglect, problems with services and agencies (like the NDIS), and tenancy issues such as evictions and disputes over bonds.

TASC operates in various locations. We provide our free legal services and advocacy support to people in Toowoomba, Ipswich, Roma, Rural South West Queensland, Southern Downs, Stanthorpe, Darling Downs, West Moreton, Goondiwindi, and Greater South West Queensland.  We also offer disability and mental health advocacy services across this region and also in the Burnett and WideBay.

At TASC, we care about you and your rights. We want to make sure you feel supported and understood. Our team is here to help you with legal issues and to fight for your rights. We believe that everyone deserves fair treatment and equal opportunities.

If you need legal assistance or advocacy support, reach out to TASC today. Our caring team is ready to help you. Together, we can make a positive difference in your life and our community.

The service TASC provides was unavailable to me elsewhere. If not for the support of the kind & professional staff, I may not have endured this difficult & stressful process with my health intact. Thank you TASC, our community & it’s people need you!
