We provide free legal advice and practical support across regional Queensland
TASC Community Legal Centre provides free legal advice to eligible clients across Toowoomba, Ipswich, the Darling Downs and South West Queensland, including Maranoa.
Our general legal services include information, referrals and legal advice, with a focus on empowering clients through clear explanations and practical self-help strategies wherever possible.
We deliver services from offices in Ipswich, Toowoomba, Roma and Goondiwindi, and also operate a Rural Women’s Outreach Legal Service to support people living in regional and rural communities.
Alongside individual legal assistance, our legal team contributes to community legal education and systemic advocacy through law reform.
Our legal services and areas of support

Domestic and Family Violence Law
If you are experiencing domestic or family violence, we can help by:
- Providing information about applying for a domestic violence order
- Assisting you to change an existing order
- Helping you respond to a domestic violence order made against you
Family Law
Our solicitors have experience assisting clients with family law matters and work closely with family relationship centres in Toowoomba and Ipswich.
We can provide advice, referrals and information about:
- Divorce and separation
- Court orders relating to children and property
- Child contact arrangements
- We can also help you understand court processes and assist with completing relevant documents.
Civil and Consumer Law
Civil and consumer law covers a wide range of everyday legal issues.
We can assist with:
- Consumer complaints
- Credit and debt matters
- Motor vehicle accidents (property damage only)
- Neighbourhood disputes and dividing fences
- Peace and Good Behaviour matters
- Guardianship and administration
- Child protection matters
We can also provide information and advice on negotiating with third parties (such as companies you owe money to) and help you write letters or emails.
Where possible, we may provide advice and limited assistance for matters going to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).
Criminal Law (minor matters)
TASC may be able to assist with some minor criminal matters for people facing charges in:
- Toowoomba Magistrates Court
- Ipswich Magistrates Court
- Roma Magistrates Court
- Some regional courts
TASC is not based at any court and can only assist in a limited capacity.
If we are unable to help, we will refer you to another service that may be able to assist.

What to Expect When You Contact Us
You can contact TASC by phone or by submitting the form below. When you get in touch, our team will talk through your situation and help determine whether our legal service is the right fit for you.
During the intake process, we will:
- gather information about your legal issue
- confirm whether we can assist
- assess eligibility for our service
- This is a confidential process, and your information is used only for these purposes.
If we’re unable to help, we will always do our best to refer you to another service. While we aim to return calls within 48 hours, response times may be longer during busy periods.
If appropriate, an appointment will be arranged with one of our solicitors by phone, video or in person.
Preparing For Your Appointment
To help us provide timely and accurate advice, please bring any relevant documents with you, such as:
- parenting plans
- court orders
- domestic violence orders
- correspondence from courts, police or solicitors
- correspondence from other parties involved
Please arrange suitable care for children, as they are unable to attend appointments.
A support person may attend with you if needed; however, their presence is at the discretion of the solicitor on the day.
You may also find it helpful to prepare a short list of questions or concerns before your appointment.
Eligibility
TASC Community Legal Centre provides free legal services to eligible clients. Eligibility is assessed during the legal intake process to ensure we can provide appropriate assistance and comply with funding and professional requirements.
Some eligibility criteria may apply, including:
- Where you live
Our legal services are funded for adults living in Ipswich, Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and South West Queensland, including Maranoa. - Financial circumstances
Our services are intended for people on low to middle incomes or experiencing financial hardship.
Nature of the legal issue
We assess whether your legal issue falls within the scope of services we are funded to provide.
Eligibility checks are completed during the intake call in line with Queensland legal practitioner rules.
