TASC Legal and Social Justice Services
We are TASC: a not-for-profit community legal and social justice organisation that has served the Queensland community since 1982.
We deliver free legal, advocacy and social services for people living in Toowoomba, Ipswich, Roma, and rural and regional communities in the Darling Downs and Maranoa regions and throughout South West Queensland.
To book an appointment with the TASC Team, call us on (07) 4616 9700, or visit us at one of our three offices (in Toowoomba, Ipswich and Roma).
Our services are delivered by fully qualified and experienced solicitors, social workers and advocates, supported by volunteer lawyers, legal students and community partners.
Whether you come to us because you are experiencing domestic and family violence or abuse or discrimination, going through a divorce, having a dispute with your neighbour, or facing a potential eviction from your rental property, TASC is here to help you solve your problem.
TASC provides free advice, referrals, and information on matters like family law, domestic and family violence, consumer, and tenancy issues.
If you have a legal problem or need someone to help you advocate for (speak up about) your rights, TASC is here to help.
We have offices in Toowoomba, Ipswich and Roma.
Appointments are also available in Warwick, Stanthorpe, Dalby, Chinchilla, Cunnamulla, Miles, St George and other parts of South West Queensland. Contact TASC to see if we can offer you a face-to-face, phone or video (Zoom/ Facetime) appointment.
TASC started off in 1982 with a mission of “social justice for all”.
Now, we are funded by State and Federal governments to ensure people who are experiencing disadvantage have access to legal and advocacy services. In particular we support people who are on lower incomes or who are in vulnerable circumstances.
Our goal is to make sure you have the same access to justice as anyone else and to work with you towards a positive outcome.
Who Do We Assist?
TASC is funded by government to provide services to people facing disadvantage and in vulnerable circumstances, including people who are financially disadvantaged or on a low income.
We deliver specialist services that assist:
- senior members of the community (non-Indigenous people aged over 60 years and people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds aged over 50 years)
- people with a disability
- people with mental illness
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- people experiencing or at risk of domestic and family violence.
TASC’s services are subject to eligibility criteria and a conflict of interest check).
At TASC, we’re here to help you. You don’t need a referral to make an appointment. Just contact our team with any questions or to find out more about our services.

Social Justice Services
Advocacy is speaking up and making sure your voice is heard so you can address a concern or solve a problem.
The Social Justice team includes advocates, social workers and solicitors who are here to help you safely raise concerns and that you understand your rights.
For people with disability and people with mental illness, our advocates can assist in helping you steer your way through the services you currently access and making sure they meet your needs. Our focus is on protecting, promoting and defending your rights.
We also deliver specialist services that are available no matter what your income level. For example:
Senior Australians who are experiencing elder abuse or financial mistreatment can benefit from our free legal advice and social work support.
The Seniors Legal and Support Service is a government-funded service for anyone aged over 60 years, and any First Nations person aged over 50 years, who is affected by or concerned about abuse. It is not means-tested.
Anyone who is living in a rental property in Queensland can get free advice from the Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (called QSTARS) on issues like bond returns and evictions.
- QSTARS is managed by Tenants Queensland and TASC is one of the partner organisations that delivers it. We can help with advice and assistance to understand your tenancy rights and responsibilities, and advocacy to your real estate agent or landlord.
